This is the reason why more bad news appears in the papers than good news. Bad news captures headlines. Good news is often buried on obscure pages below the fold.</span></p><p class="p2" style="font-family: "apple sd gothic neo"; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 16px;"><span class="s1" style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></p><p class="p1" style="font-family: "apple sd gothic neo"; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span class="s1" style="font-kerning: none;">As restrictions are easing up and more people are once again gathering with friends, dining on outdoor terraces, etc., new cases of coronavirus are on the rise. Of course this is going to happen. The goal of lockdown was to “slow the spread” and that goal was accomplished. What needs to be done now is to find a new way of life because the world has been forever changed by COVID-19.</span></p><p class="p2" style="font-family: "apple sd gothic neo"; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 16px;"><span class="s1" style="font-kerning: none;"></span><br /></p><p class="p1" style="font-family: "apple sd gothic neo"; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span class="s1" style="font-kerning: none;">What can we do? Keep the number of people coming together in one place to a reduced number to enable a safe distance between them. Beyond that, everyone needs to personally consider where they are going, how many people will be there and what is the risk of getting sick. Personal responsibility is a must. Closing down the world is not the answer. Change is the answer. We need to see what will work and what will not. This is a proactive approach that allows people to have control over their actions and their lives. We need to be able to enjoy life again. We need a “new normal”. We need to accept change is a part of this. Some things will return. Some things may not return. Everything will be different.</span></p><p class="p1" style="font-family: "apple sd gothic neo"; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span class="s1" style="font-kerning: none;"><br /></span></p>Cathy C Capassohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07126080860478470205noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3975261614298270329.post-67277734848872907732020-06-10T13:04:00.000-04:002020-06-10T13:05:19.533-04:00The Proverbial Bus<div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4xkhlaCimlo_86bTt8bwVfwEU1GGCkNwtGKfkk0ERNdwx7kNoPW7UFek-sJbgriyR2jKq1VP8_jkuG0kNZ9ZleJ6WCxtHlt4rIZfviunfAka-HK0Nb7dEozYGMoVdyyBHH6vrOrkmseA/s3000/Eyes+IMG_6638.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2244" data-original-width="3000" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg4xkhlaCimlo_86bTt8bwVfwEU1GGCkNwtGKfkk0ERNdwx7kNoPW7UFek-sJbgriyR2jKq1VP8_jkuG0kNZ9ZleJ6WCxtHlt4rIZfviunfAka-HK0Nb7dEozYGMoVdyyBHH6vrOrkmseA/s320/Eyes+IMG_6638.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><span style="font-family: AppleSDGothicNeo-Regular; font-size: 13px;"><br /></span></div><span style="font-family: AppleSDGothicNeo-Regular; font-size: 13px;">There are no guarantees in this world. Peaceful protests raise awareness. Rioting and looting raise anger and fear. </span></p>

Voices can be heard and can have an influence. It should be a positive influence for ALL people, not just ONE group. When you change one persons life, you influence all.</span></p>

<p style="font-family: "apple sd gothic neo"; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmwtY6-5QfgzUAQ9ezbtZF3jSjXd3RUaKl3dtMkgZ8Nj9oIPCD3vG2C08RQdfEiaaJN2IdpkH5B6JDs2CEfSOSOFX2503EKNReDPcF5ZCD-Q0ypXR6YbUViRD2CxcLf_-Dzukt08la41Q/" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2441" data-original-width="3100" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmwtY6-5QfgzUAQ9ezbtZF3jSjXd3RUaKl3dtMkgZ8Nj9oIPCD3vG2C08RQdfEiaaJN2IdpkH5B6JDs2CEfSOSOFX2503EKNReDPcF5ZCD-Q0ypXR6YbUViRD2CxcLf_-Dzukt08la41Q/s320/climate+change.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><p style="font-family: "apple sd gothic neo"; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: AppleSDGothicNeo-Regular;"><br /></span></p><p style="font-family: "apple sd gothic neo"; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: AppleSDGothicNeo-Regular;">Phase 1 opening started in New York this past week. It will be interesting to see what happens with the number of new cases of COVID-19. What will the government reaction be if we see a sharp rise in new cases? Can you keep shutting business down or should the smart approach be to let people decide for themselves? I am in favor of letting people decide for themselves how they want to deal with the virus. There isn’t much more we can do. The reality at the end of the day is simple. We succeeded in flattening the curve but the curve is simply that; flat. It is not at the bottom. The virus is still out there. Every day more is learned about COVID-19 and</span>every day is more confusing because the demographics of the people that are getting sick constantly change. </p>
<p style="font-family: "apple sd gothic neo"; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 15.6px;"><span style="font-family: AppleSDGothicNeo-Regular;"></span><br /></p>
<p style="font-family: "apple sd gothic neo"; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: AppleSDGothicNeo-Regular;">Business successfully adapted and did so quickly. Schools did an unthinkable shift to remote learning. Some businesses may not recover from this. Some industries will look completely different and some will not survive. A part of me expected, in time, a return to normal. When a 14 day shut down to flatten the curve turned into an additional 30 days to flatten the curve, 45 days seemed like a very long time and then the shut down continued. Now we need to create a new normal if we want to go on with lives that are not locked behind closed doors and windows. We can take the lessons learned and look at ways to permanently include the changes we made in our work and in our personal lives. Some things are better than before. Some things need modifications. Some things were temporary - the government shutting us down and taking to the airwaves to give us daily updates, comforting in the very beginning, quickly lost their appeal as we lost our ability to control our lives. I hope the temporary goes away soon a</span>nd doesn’t come back. </p><p style="font-family: "apple sd gothic neo"; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><br /></p>

<p style="font-family: "apple sd gothic neo"; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><span style="font-family: AppleSDGothicNeo-Regular;">I find myself looking forward again. There are many things that are still unknown. The biggest unknowns revolve around community. Dining out; car shows; charity fundraisers; school; museums; church; weddings; celebrations, etc. Can we find a change that feels as exciting as coming together in a large group does? That would be a game changer. </span></p><p style="font-family: "apple sd gothic neo"; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;"><br /></p>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSQ_6dGfnfYYA1s7ocgqa3kcK5WhK7bH1L6wNkbTl47tybcEmIJam5Nry-XvidGFphwzoQ00Nd_KBDvMPHkOspdBeVay-owrGFHKSvHckB75O8uv_sKaS73PJSGz1KoDkhuGhAXU-So8M/s1600/yoga-hands-meditate-zen-style_Hwhm3JO2ze.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1067" data-original-width="1600" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSQ_6dGfnfYYA1s7ocgqa3kcK5WhK7bH1L6wNkbTl47tybcEmIJam5Nry-XvidGFphwzoQ00Nd_KBDvMPHkOspdBeVay-owrGFHKSvHckB75O8uv_sKaS73PJSGz1KoDkhuGhAXU-So8M/s320/yoga-hands-meditate-zen-style_Hwhm3JO2ze.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="font-family: "Apple SD Gothic Neo"; font-size: 11px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 13.2px; text-align: center;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: AppleSDGothicNeo-Regular;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: "Apple SD Gothic Neo"; font-size: 11px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: AppleSDGothicNeo-Regular;">I discovered a way I can get into a form of meditation. I crochet. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: "Apple SD Gothic Neo"; font-size: 11px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 13.2px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: AppleSDGothicNeo-Regular;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: "Apple SD Gothic Neo"; font-size: 11px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: AppleSDGothicNeo-Regular;">Let me back up for a moment. I know about the benefits of Yoga and meditation. I personally do not experience benefits from either. They are meant to quiet the mind. My mind races when I try and “think about nothing” or “clear your mind”. I feel like I am wasting time. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: "Apple SD Gothic Neo"; font-size: 11px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 13.2px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: AppleSDGothicNeo-Regular;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: "Apple SD Gothic Neo"; font-size: 11px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: AppleSDGothicNeo-Regular;">I agree there are benefits to stepping back from the constant noise that surrounds me, surrounds all of us at times. How to do this is my problem. I have found a solution - crafts. My 30 year old niece recently asked me if I could crochet her a Piglet. She also said that Eeyore was her second favorite Winnie the Pooh character. I found free amigurumi patterns for both Piglet and Eeyore. I needed to order the yarn colors for Piglet, a very challenging prospect in a time of closed stores but that is a topic for another post. While I was waiting for the order to arrive, I had the yarn I needed to make an Eeyore. I surprised my niece with both crocheted characters last Sunday. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: "Apple SD Gothic Neo"; font-size: 11px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">

<div style="font-family: "Apple SD Gothic Neo"; font-size: 11px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: AppleSDGothicNeo-Regular;">Back to the point here. Following a crochet pattern quieted my brain. I was focused on the project and a sense of calm and peacefulness settled over me. I experienced something similar in pottery class when I became immersed in the creation of the tiny pots I make for my jade plants. I can “quiet my mind” by actively focusing on a creative project. </span></div>

<div style="font-family: "compass sans"; font-size: 14.7px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: CompassSans-Regular; font-size: 14.67px;">Sixty five days ago on March 10 the world as I knew it, as we all knew it, changed dramatically. A “containment zone” was set up in New Rochelle, New York. My apartment is located .8 of a mile from the edge of the zone; less than a mile away. I learned of this “zone” at Yonkers Pottery Studio while working on my small pottery pots for my jade plants. Conversations were happening before this about this strange virus that was in China and how some of the older people in New York were responding. The mother of one of the students was obsessively buying rice and it was getting sold out. People were hoarding toilet paper. I was seeing this with curiosity. After all, it is flu season; but, why these strange purchase behaviors? That afternoon I learned an event scheduled for March 22 was canceled and a new date cannot be set until they know the Fall schedule. It was the beginning of the eventual cancellations of all events involving more than 10 people, basically all upcoming events. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: "compass sans"; font-size: 14.7px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14.7px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: CompassSans-Regular; font-size: 14.67px;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: "compass sans"; font-size: 14.7px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: CompassSans-Regular; font-size: 14.67px;">My biggest frustration is the lack of information we are getting. Information that I believe science has, or suspected, all along. Quite simply, there is a complete lack of transparency. In the beginning days of HIV/AIDS, the CDC evaluated everything from the position; “What do you think? What do you know? What can you prove?” Unless the presented facts could be proven, “What can you prove?” without a reasonable doubt, they were not acted upon. COVID-19 reaction has gone the other way. Actions are being taken based on “What do you think?” The response to this question leads to a “try it and see if it works” approach. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: "compass sans"; font-size: 14.7px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14.7px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: CompassSans-Regular; font-size: 14.67px;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: "compass sans"; font-size: 14.7px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: CompassSans-Regular; font-size: 14.67px;">I firmly believe the leaders were right in the very beginning with the guidelines of “wash your hands, don’t touch your face, use common sense”. Somewhere along the line we got these “cover your face” requirements. This scares me because I see people developing a false sense of security. I honestly think people believe the mask will keep them safe from the virus. I don’t feel safe because people are wearing a mask. I do not think people are washing their hands as much as before wearing a mask, a.k.a. neck warmer as most people are wearing them. Virus’s are fragile organisms and they can easily be rendered useless with simple soap and water. Let’s get back to the basics and let’s use common sense. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: "compass sans"; font-size: 14.7px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14.7px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: CompassSans-Regular; font-size: 14.67px;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: "compass sans"; font-size: 14.7px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: CompassSans-Regular; font-size: 14.67px;">I admit I am having a very hard time with this virus. I am a planner. I am a Type A personality. Restrictions until such time as a vaccine and a treatment for the novel coronavirus is found are understandable. What are the restrictions? Am I going to have to wear a mask in public from now on? If that is the case, I need to accept that I am not going to be “in public” because I cannot breathe with a mask and I have a panic attack wearing one. My solution is to wear a scarf that covers my face. A quick run into the store to grab a bottle of wine is okay. Inconvenient but okay. As a way of life, it doesn’t work because I don’t think people are taking the necessary precautions of washing their hands as much as they would if they weren’t wearing a mask and that means more surfaces are contaminated. And more reasons for me to have a panic attack. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: "compass sans"; font-size: 14.7px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14.7px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: CompassSans-Regular; font-size: 14.67px;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: "compass sans"; font-size: 14.7px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: CompassSans-Regular; font-size: 14.67px;">I think our government officials are hesitating and holding back, dangerously so, with guidelines we will need to follow going forward. I think they know we are not going to like the guidelines. Putting off informing the public is not going to change public reaction. Hospitals should be in a position to now deal with increased outbreaks of the virus. They are going to happen. Other things are going to happen as well. COVID-19 is not the only illness on the planet. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: "compass sans"; font-size: 14.7px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14.7px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: CompassSans-Regular; font-size: 14.67px;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: "compass sans"; font-size: 14.7px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: CompassSans-Regular; font-size: 14.67px;">We are not going back to the way things were prior to March 10. I am not sure that people are accepting this fact. I have some ideas on what the next 12 to 18 months may look like and they are manageable. It is the lack of knowing, the fear of losing my freedom again, that is most disconcerting. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: "compass sans"; font-size: 14.7px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px; min-height: 14.7px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: CompassSans-Regular; font-size: 14.67px;"></span><br /></div>
<div style="font-family: "compass sans"; font-size: 14.7px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;">
<span style="-webkit-font-kerning: none; font-family: CompassSans-Regular; font-size: 14.67px;">The only way we can intelligently go into the Fall is with a plan and we need that plan now. Schools should stay in distance learning mode while they develop spaces that are better suited to providing suitable distance between students. Businesses need a plan, like the grocery stores, of managing customers in and out of the store. Restaurants need an plan and if that means the servers wearing masks and gloves, I am not dining in. Whatever it is, please give me the plan and let me decide how to manage it. </span></div>
<div style="font-family: "compass sans"; font-size: 14.7px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin: 0px;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIlwJSK4eR-D72vRs4kWwBfYo4jlf5Yras21hFj4Mn9PLJ7V0LnmhRAhXQEF1hdcCTp4HarVvlA4lOHFaTEv3xwpaY951CVcfPl2yN7hn_AVCMuvh35GXt-DjEPwiaY1AdmVGGj6iYNqg/s1600/8BFD03D6-D907-4846-993F-71CB3C4C26C7.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1200" data-original-width="1600" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjIlwJSK4eR-D72vRs4kWwBfYo4jlf5Yras21hFj4Mn9PLJ7V0LnmhRAhXQEF1hdcCTp4HarVvlA4lOHFaTEv3xwpaY951CVcfPl2yN7hn_AVCMuvh35GXt-DjEPwiaY1AdmVGGj6iYNqg/s320/8BFD03D6-D907-4846-993F-71CB3C4C26C7.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
Live streaming is easy. Grab your smartphone, log in to Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Periscope, Zoom, etc. Almost, if not all, social media platforms offer a live streaming option. You can live stream from a computer and share your desktop during the stream. Using a phone or tablet gives you mobility. The choice of device to stream from will be guided by the result you want and the content you will be streaming.<br />
<br />
How you live stream will influence where. Mobile devices can offer a degree of flexibility that is not easily achieved with a computer. A laptop falls somewhere in between. If you are going to be streaming an outdoor event, a mobile device; smartphone or tablet, makes the most sense. If you need to share files or video, sharing a screen is very easy on a computer. Some platforms will let you share information from a mobile device but the screen size may influence how easily you accomplish this. Basically, live streaming can be done anywhere, anytime.<br />
<br />
The ability to reach an audience has never been easier. The ability to connect to others virtually, especially now, is comforting. I think this is one of the biggest changes that will carry forward into our “new normal”. Please share your thoughts in the comments.<br />

<div class="p1" style="font-family: Luminari; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-kerning: none;">There are a few things to consider when looking at digital organization. Where are you going to access the information? From a computer? From a mobile device? Whichever you decide the important thing is the information is available on every platform. Save it once and it is saved everywhere.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></div>
<div class="p2" style="font-family: Luminari; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">

<div class="p1" style="font-family: Luminari; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-kerning: none;">Dedicated platforms that have been around for a long time are Dropbox and Evernote. Dropbox is excellent for storing pictures and for sharing folders with pictures in them. Evernote is my go to app to access files, websites, documents relating to a specific project or client. The great thing about both these platforms is the accessibility across multiple devices and platforms and the ability to store information in folders. The folders can then be shared with others or private to only you.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></div>
<div class="p2" style="font-family: Luminari; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">

<div class="p1" style="font-family: Luminari; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-kerning: none;">Cloud storage is getting more and more popular. The key to effectively using cloud storage is to set up the file storage structure in a way that makes it easy to find what you are looking for later. Cloud storage evolved over the last 5 or so years. It may be time to take a look at your structure and rearrange files and folders to meet the working demands of 2020.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></div>
<div class="p2" style="font-family: Luminari; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">

<span class="s1" style="font-kerning: none;">I see collaboration a key benefit with cloud storage. It is much easier to share a document, spreadsheet, presentation, etc. with another person to work on<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>rather than emailing updates back and forth. Email works but often you lose track of the most recent version and/or it is difficult to go back to a previous version.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></div>
<div class="p2" style="font-family: Luminari; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">

<div class="p1" style="font-family: Luminari; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal;">
<span class="s1" style="font-kerning: none;">One final thought on digital organization applies to photos. Photography was forever changed with the advent of the smartphone. Today, everyone has a camera in their pocket. How you store, access and share the pictures snapped on your phone is a huge topic that I think deserves its own conversation at a later date. In the meantime, follow the same guidelines for organizing the other components of your digital world - folders.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></div>
<div class="p2" style="font-family: Luminari; font-size: 13px; font-stretch: normal; font-variant-east-asian: normal; font-variant-numeric: normal; line-height: normal; min-height: 18px;">

I received a phone call about an order we placed in April, 2019. We are restoring the interior of a 1962 Oldsmobile F85 Cutlass. We discussed all the components needed and thought everything was ordered with the company out West.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The pieces are finally arriving a year later and we do not have carpet. We discussed carpet when ordering the interior. It was a lengthy discussion because I considered going with a different color from the original. In the end, we stayed with the original pile and color. How did this happen? It happened because at the time the order was placed I was in the final stages of our <a href="http://teammichelangelo.com/next-event.html">annual show</a>. I quickly reviewed the three separate invoices and I missed that the carpet was not on any one of them. Fast forward to today, I needed to find the orders/invoices. I occasionally digitally filed paperwork, not all of it in its proper place. I see now there are a lot of papers that need to be stored in a better place for easy retrieval. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This made me realize the importance of digital organization. I have worked on this for years. One of the many challenges is the form of the digital organization. Do I use folders online, platforms like Evernote and Dropbox. Do I depend on cloud storage, should there be an external hard drive or flash drive that contains the information? </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBVUBRPJNFPxOGlmEJCPLWoU8W-m0xC5xGpOn8mOwEuFKDyFX32KH988VMOw1s8s1Q2jqgsXMPQ1CV39H4PaCZe12t760ZUP0xhC3TSB4DyrrgK6KLWiWmf9ueuzbQtjoiaheOG7LDOMM/s1600/Digital+Storage.jpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBVUBRPJNFPxOGlmEJCPLWoU8W-m0xC5xGpOn8mOwEuFKDyFX32KH988VMOw1s8s1Q2jqgsXMPQ1CV39H4PaCZe12t760ZUP0xhC3TSB4DyrrgK6KLWiWmf9ueuzbQtjoiaheOG7LDOMM/s320/Digital+Storage.jpg.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am not alone in this. We have information at our fingertips. This is both a blessing and a curse. We can get answers in an instant and this creates a need for instant gratification. It speeds everything up and leaves little time to put things in their proper place. It creates an “I will get to that later” mindset. </div>

<br />
<span style="color: #1a1a1a; font-size: medium;">There are many network marketing opportunities in the world. How do you evaluate a good business opportunity and choose one that is right for you?</span><br />
<span style="color: #1a1a1a; font-size: medium;"><br /></span>
<span style="color: #1a1a1a; font-size: medium;">First, there are five things to look at:</span><br />
<ol>
<li><span style="color: #1a1a1a; font-size: medium;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(26, 26, 26);">The Company</span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #1a1a1a; font-size: medium;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(26, 26, 26);">The Products</span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #1a1a1a; font-size: medium;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(26, 26, 26);">The Financial Opportunity</span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #1a1a1a; font-size: medium;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(26, 26, 26);">The Culture</span></span></li>
<li><span style="color: #1a1a1a; font-size: medium;"><span style="caret-color: rgb(26, 26, 26);">Timing</span></span></li>
</ol>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
There are three main components to look at when evaluating the product or service:</div>
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<ol>
<li><b>Different</b> What makes the company or business opportunity different? What makes it different from the competition? What makes it unique?</li>
<li><b>Advantage</b> The difference has to give you an advantage over the competition or an advantage in the marketplace.</li>
<li><b>Sustainable </b>The business must be sustainable.</li>
</ol>
<div>

<h2 style="text-align: center;">
Friday Recap</h2>
<h4>
<span style="font-weight: normal;">I have been (somewhat obsessively) listening to the press conferences of Governor Cuomo and President Trump. I track numbers using the Johns Hopkins University Coronavirus Resource Center. Numbers keep me grounded. When numbers surge, the day over day percentage change helps me keep things in perspective. The percentage of new cases in New York City and Westchester County is dropping. Death percentages, as expected, are up; yet, not as high as anticipated. </span></h4>
<div>
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
A Disappointing Announcement - NY is on PAUSE until May 15</h4>
<div>
Why is this disappointing? Because it crushed my hope that we may possibly be looking at a new normal in a couple of weeks. This is 29 more days. It feels very far away. I am saddened by this news. Who knows, the situation changes hourly and maybe this will too. </div>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoeYsWWX_oFTXaNLER5OH6QLyz8CC009ND4g6YjuySad5TDabn1sEaMNqcdKRkrFXzlokrCrctzJHJrWjf28O2_KTqX4Zx-89zKJKPBGnmGsQ5ZsOdAEXkW-Vvv1JzYkHhCRZuMXpvItY/s1600/Praying+Angel.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1305" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhoeYsWWX_oFTXaNLER5OH6QLyz8CC009ND4g6YjuySad5TDabn1sEaMNqcdKRkrFXzlokrCrctzJHJrWjf28O2_KTqX4Zx-89zKJKPBGnmGsQ5ZsOdAEXkW-Vvv1JzYkHhCRZuMXpvItY/s320/Praying+Angel.jpg" width="261" /></a></div>
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
A New Normal</h4>
COVID-19 brings with it a new reality. "Normal" going forward will be different. There will be a new normal. There are too many unanswered questions; questions only time can answer. Is this virus going to come back? Will we have a break until the Fall when flu season returns? Will the United States, and the world, be forced into lockdown again?<br />
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
Opportunities for the Future</h4>
<div>
I am a very active person. I do not have a traditional job. I describe myself as an entrepreneur wearing many hats and making a difference. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My last typical Saturday was March 14, 33 days ago. I confine myself to home. I count on one hand the number of times I ventured out. I have become terrified of going to a store. Fortunately, I don't have to. I use FreshDirect for delivery and have not had to go to a grocery store since 2011. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am doing a lot of research. I majored in Marketing and Management at Iona College before the dawn of the Internet. The Internet created a world of possibilities combined with information overload. How do you reach your market? Can you achieve organic growth? What is the message and how is it perceived? What do people want? What do people need? I am fine-tuning my focus and I am developing a message geared toward today's opportunities.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<h4 style="text-align: center;">
The Power of the Network Marketing Entrepreneur Opportunity</h4>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Stay tuned - the message is developing and details will be forth coming. </div>

<span class="s1" style="letter-spacing: -0.1px;">Passive income offers increasing levels of financial security. <h2 style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #674ea7;">Easter Reflections</span></h2>
<div>
<span style="color: #674ea7;">It is Sunday, April 12, 2020. Easter arrives a little later this year. What should be a day spent enjoying the beauty of Spring is now, for the most part, a day spent inside.</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #674ea7;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #674ea7;">HIV/AIDS was, and still is, a horrific virus. There are a lot of things to be learned about a virus. First and foremost, you cannot cure it. You can sometimes "treat" the symptoms potentially making it easier to deal with but you cannot cure it. The body, specifically the immune system, is the only defense against a virus. Vaccines will help the immune system identify and fight a virus against a future attack. What about the flu vaccines people get every year? W</span><span style="color: #674ea7;">hat about this COVID-19 virus?</span><span style="color: #674ea7;"> Is this just another version of the annual flu? Is this why health experts are asking the question, "How long will antibodies protect us? A year, two years?" Will a vaccine for COVID-19 be successful in wiping out the potential for a future pandemic? Will another virus come along and create another pandemic?</span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #674ea7;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #674ea7;">Unfortunately, I think we are looking at the new face of the annual flu virus. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #674ea7;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #674ea7;">Going forward we need to make some changes. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #674ea7;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<ul>
<li><span style="color: #674ea7;">We need a medical system that can manage the flu.</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #674ea7;">We need to improve our own immune systems.</span></li>
<li><span style="color: #674ea7;">We need to recognize this can happen every flu season.</span></li>
</ul>
<div>
<span style="color: #674ea7;"><br /></span></div>

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnmOp8Wj6TXFF2MN9T2zHSU8NGk_QtjrUx9UQem_ziGXUHOa3xxOMjsumrixLtooi0wTSa2Cw58LaNLulYtE8QdJzIdIhRDF5Ef2r6wGsq9OIfckn-hWrbYyAe4kuKmEgwvJZoTamd6qo/s1600/a-lone-seagull-stands-on-the-sea-shore-with-a-reflection-coming-off-the-water_rFwWs2VAro.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhnmOp8Wj6TXFF2MN9T2zHSU8NGk_QtjrUx9UQem_ziGXUHOa3xxOMjsumrixLtooi0wTSa2Cw58LaNLulYtE8QdJzIdIhRDF5Ef2r6wGsq9OIfckn-hWrbYyAe4kuKmEgwvJZoTamd6qo/s320/a-lone-seagull-stands-on-the-sea-shore-with-a-reflection-coming-off-the-water_rFwWs2VAro.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #674ea7;"><br /></span></h3>
<h3 style="text-align: center;">
<span style="color: #674ea7;">Back to reflections</span></h3>
<div>
<span style="color: #674ea7;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #674ea7;">We started talking about this years flu in early February. I knew people and families that experienced the worse flu ever in December and January. Healthy, young people were sick in bed for up to two weeks. Was this the beginning of what would become COVID-19? I believe it was. I also believe there was nothing different that could have been done sooner to prevent what happened across our country and around the world. It happened fast. One weekend I am celebrating my birthday and the next week New Rochelle has a one mile containment zone. I stayed home for three days; Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. I read everything I could about what was happening. I wanted to understand something that was exploding overnight. I couldn't understand it then and now I believe this enemy was, and is, airborne. Fear is the one emotion that I continue to battle. The last day I spent the way I normally would on a typical Saturday was March 14. </span></div>
</div>
<div>
<span style="color: #674ea7;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #674ea7;">We are probably looking at another 60 to 90 days of "social distancing". And after that, days will be forever changed. A new plan is needed. What that is I am not really sure of. I do know <b>I need a plan</b>. Tomorrow, Monday, is the beginning of a new week. I will write out the Plan vs. Actual in my Rocketbook Fusion. And maybe, if all goes well, a new normal will begin to take shape. Waiting to get back to "normal" is a waste of time because "normal" is going to look very different. </span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #674ea7;"><br /></span></div>
<div>
<span style="color: #674ea7;">Be safe. Be well. </span></div>
<div>

<span class="s1" style="font-kerning: none;">Four weeks ago, Sunday, March 8, I was celebrating my upcoming birthday with family and friends. Monday, my actual birthday, the celebration continued as I enjoyed lunch and a wonderful afternoon with my friend Kit. On Tuesday, March 10, while taking what would become the last pottery class for a while, I learned of the “Containment Zone” established in the North End of New Rochelle. Life, as we know it, will be forever changed.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span></span></div>

Juggling between responsibilities can be daunting.<span class="Apple-converted-space"> </span>I feel helpless. The questions and comments of the three speakers have been consolidated under each presenter. The opinions provide an interesting perspective comparing the never before seen in modern history situation with past situations, what is being done to address it and what and when may be the outcome. </div>

It is hard to understand and accept that this exploded so rapidly; but, it did. Now, we need ways to adapt, adjust and get through this. In times of crisis people come together to support each other, comfort each other, help each other. With this situation we are asked to keep six feet between us. This is unnatural for most of us and perhaps one of the most uncomfortable parts of this crisis. <div><br></div><div>Now is the time to find ways to cheer people. “Shine a Little Light” in the world around us. I will share inspiring quotes, pictures, videos and cards with the hope it helps make this time a little easier and brings a smile to your face. </div><div><br></div><div><a href="https://www.americangreetings.com/pickup?rr=y&m=&token=r550f514e-3557-4d3f-bb2b-27f5612ccfc6&pn=prod3417941&utm_medium=pickup&utm_source=share&utm_campaign=receiver" id="id_7be0_1ee9_d208_724d"><img id="id_57d0_cde1_7dd4_5965" src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/9cyqlE0Gw36a_E3az3ELO2Y8s6yncIO7HNaqT7_rDvcF8Nvnwcf7xDjjGrMvu_I" alt="" title="" tooltip="" style="width: 746px; height: auto;"></a><br><br><br></div>Cathy C Capassohttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07126080860478470205noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3975261614298270329.post-60498040733200288472019-05-29T13:58:00.001-04:002019-05-29T13:58:08.678-04:00Electronic Note Taking Pen vs. Rocketbook Everlast Notebook<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I came across a DRAFT post I never published. It deserves to be updated with the inclusion of the Rocketbook Everlast Notebook. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
A few years ago, there was a pop-up ad for this Livescribe 3 Smart Pen. You can find this product on Amazon. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
I find the concept intriguing because an inherent disadvantage to "going green" and paperless is how we write notes. It cannot be denied that the words we write on paper are very different from typing the text. There is something in the way our brain processes the information. It is probably a right brain/left brain thing but that's another topic. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue light" , , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif;">I am using Noteshelf, an iPad app that mimics my old fashioned notebook. I can change ink colors, doodle, write reminders and flip back through the pages to find my notes. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue light" , , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue light" , , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif;">What is it about this pen that caught my attention? Searchable </span>electronic notes through Evernote integration. <span style="font-family: "helvetica neue light" , , "helvetica" , "arial" , sans-serif;">My only hesitation, is it worth the $149.95 price ($199.95 for the Pro model)? Is it just another electronic gadget that seems really cool but will end up being used occasionally or not at all? Where does it fit? Maybe just the thing for the technology geek! Still, a pricey choice. </span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both;">
Enter a new player in the market - Rocketbook Everlast Notebook. With the same smart features of being able to write with pen and paper and then save your notes to your electronic choice; i.e., Evernote, Google Drive, email, etc.; no devices to remember to charge; much better price - you can get the two books; the Executive Rocketbook and Rocketbook Mini, for under $50 on Amazon. I have these - received as gifts - and I love them. Definitely worth taking a look at. </div>

It doesn't matter if your pet is a dog, cat, rabbit, fish, etc. Look up the corresponding word for the first letter of their name and then the one for the last letter of their name. Enjoy!<br />

Is it really the middle of the week? What happens when you include Saturday and Sunday a.k.a. the weekend? If you think of the week starting on Sunday, then Wednesday is still in the middle and is still “Hump Day”. If you think the week starts on Monday, does Thursday becomes “Hump Day”? </div><div><br></div><div>I woke up thinking about this and never pondered the day that falls in the middle of the week. I find it interesting that Wednesday falls in the middle of both a Monday through Friday, the traditional work week, and also in the middle of a week that starts on Sunday. </div><div><br></div><div>One of my favorite calendars is the American Express Desk Calendar. The weekly pages start on Monday and the month at a glance starts on Sunday. This addresses both thoughts for the start of the week - Sunday or Monday. I use Monday as the start of my week. One would think in the year 2019 with all the digital platforms available that marketing would be easy. Reaching your target audience as simple as hitting a few buttons. Build a social presence by being active on social media. All these things are really basic so why is marketing so difficult today?<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Money. The 1980’s feel like ancient history but things were easier. Specific channels; newspaper, magazine, radio, TV, and direct mail were the major players. You received media kits and price plans to market your product or service on these channels. Something else that was part of the marketing strategy was advertising agency discount rates. An ad agency could offer their service to a client at no additional advertising cost because the channels gave a percentage of the advertising dollars spent back to the agency and everyone was a winner. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
In 2019, money is still the main player in the game; however, the major players, or channels of today, have changed. We now live in a world of social media and if you do not have a social media presence, you are invisible. Advertising discounts for ad agencies still exist but the average business owner cannot afford to promote their product or service on TV. Print media; i.e., newspapers, magazines, and direct mail are readily available online as well as in print. Will your advertising dollars on these channels reach your target audience? Maybe and that is a big risk to take. <br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What about social media and what is the problem? Algorithms. Facebook and Instagram are two of the biggest players in the social media game. It often feels like spending advertising dollars on these channels is like playing darts. What impact will your ad dollars have in getting your product, service, or event seen by the people you want to reach? How will that algorithm affect your results? Do you need to spend money to be seen and more important, why should the small business have to spend huge amounts of money to be seen? </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
There are a lot of questions with very few answers. This is an experiment; using a blog and dynamic websites to reach a target audience. Websites became static when smartphones took over communication. You hold the power to engage in social media, check email, text and talk, search the internet, listen to music and podcasts wherever you are because that power exists in your smartphone. Will a dynamic website capture the audience you want to reach? Will a blog dedicated solely to information, and not a platform monetized by advertisers, build engagement? Can social media be utilized in a way that traffic can be driven to a website or blog? These are the questions and time will tell what the answers are. </div>

</div>
<div>
Cats have come a long way, especially in the human/cat relationship. Once thought to be “aloof” and “independent”, humans are learning that cats are social creatures that do not like change. 20 years ago, it was believed that cats needed to be outside and, reluctantly, came inside. I experience first hand that cats are quite comfortable inside. Given food, water, a comfy place to play and sleep, the indoor cat is quite happy. Cats are protective of their “territory”. They will greet their humans at the door, play fetch, perform tricks, and teach their human the fine art of observation.<br>

<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">Have you had one of those days when your email is never empty? I find it happens too often. It has taken time but I finally came up with a solution. I force myself to deal with each new email; read, file, redirect or delete. If I find more than fifty new emails and feel overwhelmed, I will open email on my computer instead of my iPad. I stopped automatically fetching email on my iPad which only caused stress because I couldn't immediately address a new email. Most are promotion pieces anyway and do not require immediate attention. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">In summary:</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;"><br /></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<ol>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Manually fetch email when you can deal with it. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Create a timetable that works for you.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Deal with every new email; read, file, redirect or delete.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">When you have too many new emails and feel overwhelmed, take a breath and deal with one at a time. </span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Set aside at least one day every week to entirely clear your unread email. I like starting Monday fresh and will often use the weekend to address each piece.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size: large;">Unsubscribe from unwanted email. Keep only subscriptions that have value for you.</span></li>
</ol>
</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: large;">I hope these suggestions help. If you have tricks that work for you, please share in the comment section. </span></div>
